Description
The Universal Audio Volt 476 is a four-channel USB audio interface designed for musicians and producers who want more inputs, analog character, and flexible control over dynamics. The model offers 4 analog inputs and 4 outputs, 24-bit/192 kHz resolution, and a built-in compressor inspired by the classic 1176 integrated directly into the hardware.
The interface features two combo XLR/¼" TRS inputs that support microphone, line, and instrument (Hi-Z) signals, as well as two additional ¼" TRS line inputs for synthesizers, drum machines, or external processors. The two microphone preamps can operate with 48 V phantom power enabled (applicable to all inputs), allowing the use of condenser microphones.
The Volt 476 includes a Vintage Mic Preamp mode that adds analog coloration and character to the signal at the input. It also features a built-in analog compressor with three preset modes (Vocal, Guitar, Fast) that allow for dynamic control without the need for external devices or plug-ins while recording.
Analog outputs include 4× ¼" TRS balanced line outputs, two of which are dedicated to main monitor outputs. A ¼" TRS headphone output is also available on the front panel with separate control. Eight-segment LED meters provide clear visual indication of input and output levels.
The interface operates at a maximum resolution of 192 kHz / 24-bit and offers zero-latency direct monitoring for recording without noticeable delay. Connection to a computer is via USB-C (USB 2.0 protocol). MIDI input and output (DIN 5-pin) are also available for connecting external MIDI hardware.
Power is provided by an included 5V external adapter, ensuring stable operation during multi-channel recording. The Volt 476 is compatible with macOS, Windows and iOS devices, including Apple Silicon systems.
With an expanded input-output configuration, a built-in hardware compressor, and Universal Audio's signature sound, the Volt 476 is suitable for both home studios and more serious project recordings.
