The ADAM Audio A4V active studio monitor is a compact, high-precision active studio monitor, part of the A-Series, designed for professional monitoring in environments with limited space, where maximum accuracy, control and consistency in decision-making are required. The model is oriented towards nearfield applications and is suitable for both music production and mixing, as well as post-production, video and broadcast environments.
The A4V uses a two-way active configuration with a 4-inch composite cone woofer and a 1-inch voice coil. This woofer is optimized for fast response and low distortion, delivering tight and controlled low and low-mid ranges without undue emphasis. This is especially important when working in small rooms where uncontrolled bass can lead to poor mix decisions.
The high-frequency range is reproduced by a 2.2-inch ribbon tweeter that reaches frequencies up to 41 kHz with a deviation of ±3 dB. This extended frequency range provides exceptional detail, precise attack and clarity in transients, which is crucial when working with vocals, acoustic instruments and spatial effects. An active crossover at 3 kHz ensures a smooth and consistent transition between the two drivers.
The amplifier section is hybrid and optimized for the frequency ranges. The low frequencies are driven by a powerful Class-D amplifier with 90 W RMS, while the high-frequency range uses Class-AB amplification with 15 W RMS, which contributes to a more natural and controlled reproduction of high frequencies. The total RMS power of 130 W provides a stable dynamic headroom and a maximum sound pressure of up to 100 dB peak, more than enough for nearfield monitoring.
One of the key features of the A4V is its advanced DSP section for acoustic adaptation. The monitor features HF shelf, HF notch/peak, low-mid notch/peak and LF shelf adjustments that allow for fine-tuning to suit positioning, working distance and room acoustics. This makes the A4V particularly suitable for professional environments where precise monitor matching is critical.
Connectivity includes a balanced XLR input and unbalanced RCA input for analog signal, as well as an Ethernet port (RJ45) for network integration and control within the A-Series ecosystem. The enclosure is bass-reflex, shielded and designed for vertical positioning, with its compact dimensions allowing for easy integration even in tight workspaces.
