The Solid State Logic SSL 2+ MKII is a two-channel USB audio interface designed for users looking for a compact yet professional solution for recording, monitoring, and working with external hardware. The model builds on the concept of the SSL 2 MKII, maintaining high audio quality and adding more advanced connectivity and control capabilities, making it suitable for more flexible studio configurations.
The interface features two combo XLR/¼" TRS inputs that support microphone and line signals. The microphone preamps provide up to 64 dB of gain and feature low noise and high detail, allowing for use with both condenser and dynamic microphones. Each input features individually switchable 48 V phantom power, giving full control when using different microphone configurations.
The SSL 2+ MKII also features two Hi-Z inputs for direct connection of electric guitars and basses. With an impedance of 1 MΩ and a maximum input level of +15 dBu, these inputs are optimized for instruments and allow for clean recording without the need for DI boxes or external preamps. This makes it suitable for musicians who record vocals and instruments in real time.
The device operates at resolutions up to 192 kHz / 32-bit, which provides high dynamic range and minimal distortion. The analog configuration includes 2 inputs and 4 outputs, with four balanced monitor outputs allowing flexible routing to various monitoring systems. Two separate headphone outputs make it easy to work with more than one artist, without the need for an external headphone amplifier.
The front panel features two multi-segment LED indicators for visual level control, as well as independent potentiometers for input signal control. Direct monitoring with latency below 1 ms at 48 kHz ensures comfortable recording work, without noticeable delay.
The SSL 2+ MKII also features MIDI in and out, making it suitable for integration with hardware synthesizers, drum machines, and MIDI controllers. Power is supplied directly via the USB-C connection, without an external adapter, making it convenient for mobile setups. Compatibility with macOS and Windows allows for easy integration into a variety of work environments – from home studios to compact production spaces.
