Description
The Sony FE 100mm f/2.8 Macro GM OSS telephoto macro lens is the first such model in the G Master series, compatible with full-frame cameras with Sony E mount. This macro lens offers 1.4x magnification, excellent resolution, smooth defocus, precise control and excellent image stabilization.
Exceptional details
The 1.4:1 reproduction ratio delivers impressive detail and allows fine textures – from flower petals to the delicate wings of an insect – to be captured with exceptional clarity. Adding an optional teleconverter can increase the ratio to 2.8:1, providing even closer shots without having to further shorten the distance to the subject.
Precision optics
The lens construction is carefully engineered to minimize optical distortion. Two extreme aspherical lenses and two extra-low dispersion elements ensure high resolution from the center to the periphery of the image, while reducing chromatic aberrations and other distortions. The result is clarity and precision in every image – from fine details to texture in defocus.
Nano AR Coating II reduces flare and enhances contrast even in backlit conditions, while the 11-blade circular diaphragm produces the smooth, creamy bokeh characteristic of the G Master series.
Control and stability
Macro photography requires careful focus control. The FE 100mm f/2.8 Macro GM OSS offers several ways to adjust focus: from quick switching between autofocus and manual focus to direct control with the focus ring even in autofocus mode. Four XD linear motors enable quiet, fast and precise focusing, and the aperture control ring provides direct adjustment of the aperture without having to enter the camera menus.
The integrated optical stabilization system compensates for hand movements in various directions – from tilts and horizontal shifts to back-and-forth movements, ensuring stable macro even handheld.
