Focal Shape 40 is equipped with a 4-inch woofer made of the unique Flax composite (flax fiber, Focal patent), the monitor reproduces an extremely clean and dynamic mid and low frequency range. Light and rigid, this material provides high damping capacity, resulting in a clear bass and a detailed mid-frequency response without unwanted resonances. The tweeter has an inverted aluminum-magnesium dome, which provides an extended frequency response with wide dispersion and high precision in the upper frequencies.
The built-in bi-amp Class AB system provides a total power of 50 W (25 W for low frequencies and 25 W for high frequencies), allowing an SPL of 102 dB, which is quite sufficient for small rooms. Despite the modest dimensions, the frequency response from 60 Hz to 35 kHz (±3 dB) guarantees a wide spectrum and clarity even in critical mixing situations. The side-mounted passive diaphragms, instead of traditional bass-reflex ports, ensure better low-frequency behavior, without turbulence, even when placed close to a wall.
An additional advantage are the rear controls for low and high frequencies, which allow you to adapt the sound to the room. The aluminum housing with MDF sides ensures stability and minimal vibrations, and the design is sophisticated and elegant, suitable for both home studios and professional environments.
