The microphone has a wide frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz and an effective operating range of 70 Hz to 18 kHz at a standard distance of 60 cm. Thanks to a sensitivity of 19 mV/Pa and a maximum sound pressure of 138 dB, the 4017B allows for precise sound capture in any situation - from quiet dialogue to loud sound effects, without distortion. The dynamic range of 124 dB and the extremely low self-noise level (13 dB A-weighted) guarantee a clean signal with maximum fidelity.
The presence of built-in audio filters provides additional flexibility when recording. The ability to activate low-cut filters at 50 Hz (18 dB/octave) and 120 Hz (6 dB/octave) allows for effective elimination of low-frequency vibrations and ambient noise, while the high boost filter adds +4 dB at 8 kHz for clearer reproduction of voice frequencies and fine sound details.
The 4017B is powered by standard 48V phantom power and uses a balanced XLR 3-pin output, ensuring reliable integration with all professional audio systems. Its compact size and lightweight design make it ideal for mounting on boom stands, cameras or handheld stabilizers, both in the studio and in the field.
