The OM SYSTEM OM-3 mirrorless camera inherits many of the specifications and features of the brand's flagship model, the OM SYSTEM OM-1 Mark II, in a more compact body that retains the styling of the original OM-3 from the 1980s.
Combining a classic design inspired by the legendary Olympus OM-3 with advanced technologies for modern digital photography, the OM-3 is aimed at photographers who value mechanical controls, retro aesthetics and the modern features of the latest generation of digital cameras.
Design and ergonomics
OM SYSTEM OM-3 features a retro housing made of sturdy metal, which ensures durability and ease of use. The control layout is designed to provide quick and intuitive access to the main settings without having to enter menus.
The back of the camera is similar to that of the OM SYSTEM OM-5, but has been adapted for more precise control. On the front is a new mechanical control dial inspired by the Olympus PEN-F, which allows easy adjustment of key parameters such as ISO, white balance and various creative modes.

Sensor and processor
The OM-3 uses the same 20 MP Live MOS BSI sensor as the OM-1 Mark II, ensuring high detail, excellent image dynamics and improved low-light capabilities. The sensor is assisted by the TruePic X processor, which provides fast processing and high performance during continuous shooting.
Stabilization
Both cameras feature 5-axis image stabilization that compensates for up to 8.5 stops. This is especially useful when shooting handheld, for both stills and video.
Autofocus
The autofocus system is identical on both models. The AI-based technology allows for precise recognition and tracking of people, animals, birds and vehicles.
Viewfinder and display
Both the OM-3 and OM-1 Mark II use a 5.76 million-dot OLED viewfinder, which provides a bright and detailed view. The display is also the same – a 3-inch vari-angle touchscreen with 1.62 million dots, which offers flexibility when framing.
Video capabilities
The OM-3 and OM-1 Mark II support 4K video, which provides professional-quality video recording.

The OM SYSTEM OM-3 has a single memory card slot, but it makes up for it with the addition of several new control dials. The Creative Dial provides quick access to various color modes, while the Computational Photography Button allows for easy selection of functions such as Live ND, Live GND, 14-bit High-Res, Focus Stacking, Multiple Exposure, and HDR. In addition, a new dial makes it easy to switch between photo and video modes, as well as control S&Q Motion. For videographers, two new color profiles have been added – OM Cinema 1 and 2, which offer advanced image processing.
