The Leica Q3 compact camera combines classic stylish design with new features and functions for the Leica Q series.
The Leica 19080 Q3 is equipped with a 60-megapixel full-frame sensor, a new hybrid autofocus system, an updated viewfinder and display, and shoots up to 8K video.
The back-illuminated sensor inherited from Leica interchangeable lens cameras is combined with a Maestro IV processor and offers lower noise levels and faster readout and can operate in 4 different crop modes to simulate different lens focal lengths - 1.25x crop for 35mm, 1.8x for 50mm, 2.7x for 75mm and 3.2x for 90mm. In addition, the Leica Q3 supports the Triple Resolution technology known from the Leica M11, where resolutions of 60, 36 and 18 megapixels can be selected from the entire sensor area.
The Leica Q3 features a fixed Summilux 28mm f/1.7 lens, developed specifically for the Leica Q series, with a wide angle range and a large maximum aperture for working in different lighting conditions and in different scenes. There is a macro mode for shooting from a distance of only 17 cm, as well as optical stabilization.
The hybrid autofocus system uses points with contrast and phase detection and DFD (depth from defocus) for faster and more precise focusing, recognition and tracking of objects in the frame - eyes, faces, animals, etc.
The Leica Q3 records 4:2:0 10-bit 8K video at up to 30 frames per second in-camera and 8-bit when recording externally via micro-HDMI, as well as 4K 4:2:2 10-bit video at up to 60 frames in second and FHD with up to 120 frames per second. At all resolutions, the camera supports the classic cinematic frame rate of 24 frames per second. ProRes 422 HQ FHD 60p internal recording is also available.
The camera is equipped with an updated viewfinder and display. The viewfinder is 5.76 million dots, 120 fps refresh and 0.79x magnification. The Leica Q3 is the first camera in the series with a removable display - a 3-inch touchscreen with 1.84 million dots.
The camera's compact magnesium body is protected against dust and moisture and features micro-HDMI and USB-C ports, the latter allowing file transfer, camera control, power and battery charging. The new version of the Leica FOTOS app allows wireless file transfer at speeds of up to 35MB/s. With the optional Leica HG-DC1 Wireless Charging Handgrip, the Leica Q3 can be charged wirelessly with Qi-compatible charging pads such as the Leica Drop XL Wireless Charger.
