The Rode NTG4 is a high-end directional microphone with digital switches designed for movies, sound design, TV shows and more. The microphone features an enhanced capsule that delivers quality sound and offers digital switching options for a variety of terrain operations.
The Rode NTG4 features a supercardioid polar model with a frequency range of 20 to 20 kHz, a sensitivity of -32 dB re 1 V / Pa, a dynamic range of 119 dB, a signal-to-noise ratio of 78 dB SPL and a maximum SPL of 135 dB. The microphone is powered by + 12V, + 24V, + 48V phantom power and weighs only 126g.
There is a power button on the microphone housing with an LED indicator, as well as three digital buttons for switching with LED indicators. The first button provides a drop of -10 dB at the microphone input to allow loud sounds to be recorded without clipping. The middle button includes a 75 Hz high pass filter, which is useful for reducing the bass and infrared noise of indoor / outdoor air conditioning / ventilation systems or outdoor outdoor traffic. The third button is the High Frequency Boost, which helps restore some of the high frequency content that is often lost when a windshield is placed on the microphone. An added benefit is that High Frequency Boost can help improve the readability of recorded speech, especially useful for film and television productions.
