The SmallRig 6286 TRIBEX PRO X-Clutch Monopod is a professional video monopod developed in collaboration with Potato Jet for operators who need quick height adjustment, smooth camera movement, and reliable support during dynamic work. The design combines carbon sections with a hydraulic X-Clutch mechanism and an integrated video head with a fixed counterbalance of 4 kg. The working height is adjustable from 90 to 170 cm, and its own weight is approximately 2.6 kg. The head supports equipment weighing up to 6 kg, making the model suitable for professional video cameras, DSLRs, and mirrorless systems used in sports events, documentary productions, interviews, and wedding photography.
The main advantage of the TRIBEX PRO is the X-Clutch system, which allows the deployment of all three sections by activating a single mechanism. Instead of the operator having to adjust several individual locking elements in succession, the height can be changed quickly with one movement. Hydraulic damping helps with smooth deployment, and the automatic locking fixes the sections after adjustment. This is especially useful in reportage work, when the camera position needs to be changed frequently without wasting time between individual shots.
The integrated video head is designed for controlled pan and tilt movements. The tilt range is from +90° to -65°, and the fixed 4 kg counterbalance helps balance a compatible camera when moving along the vertical axis. The maximum load capacity of the head is 6 kg, and the actual suitability also depends on the weight distribution, lens and additional accessories. A quick-release plate compatible with the 501PL system is included, which makes it easy to attach and remove the camera when changing the shooting configuration.
The base features a foot pedal for switching between 360° free panning and fixed position. This allows the operator to select the appropriate mode without having to bend over and interrupt their work. Silicone feet provide surface contact, while hidden metal spikes can be used for additional traction on grass, gravel and other uneven terrain. This design is practical for both studio and outdoor work, where the surface and operator position may change.
The monopod is made of carbon fiber, aluminum alloy, POM, stainless steel and silicone. The three sections have diameters of 35.5, 30 and 25 mm. When folded, the length is approximately 89 cm, which makes it easy to transport and store. The foldable handle contributes to a more compact storage, and the silicone grip provides a stable grip during prolonged shooting. Two mounting points with 1/4"-20 thread and anti-rotation protection allow the addition of compatible accessories, such as a monitor or a movable arm. There are also points for attaching a carrying strap. With a maximum vertical body load of up to 25 kg under certain conditions and without the video head, the SmallRig 6286 offers a solid foundation for working with professional equipment, and when choosing a configuration, the individual load capacity of the head must be taken into account.
