Description
The Audio-Technica BP4071 is a professional condenser shotgun microphone designed for recording sound in television and video productions, documentary projects, reporting and field work. With its hypercardioid polar pattern, the microphone is suitable for situations where directional sound capture from a specific source is required, while limiting the influence of unwanted environmental sounds. Its end address design allows positioning towards the sound source, making it suitable for working with a camera boom or when filming scenes in which the microphone must remain out of frame.
The P4071 operates in a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, allowing it to record a wide range of sound frequencies, from low-pitched vocals and ambient sounds to high-frequency details. This makes it suitable for recording dialogue and interviews, as well as capturing the atmosphere of various locations. The hypercardioid polar pattern helps focus on the main sound source, which is especially useful when working in noisy spaces, on the street, or at events with multiple sound sources.
The microphone features a switchable low-cut filter (Low Cut/HPF) set at 80 Hz with a 12 dB per octave slope. This feature helps reduce unwanted low-frequency noise that can occur from wind, vibration, or equipment movement. Additionally, a -10 dB pad is available, allowing you to reduce the input level when recording loud sound sources. With a maximum sound pressure of 141 dB SPL, the microphone is designed to work in situations with high sound levels, while providing the ability to use the built-in pad if necessary.
The Audio-Technica BP4071 is equipped with a 3-pin XLR output and is powered by 48 V phantom power. The sensitivity of 35.5 mV/Pa and the dynamic range of 128 dB complete its characteristics for professional sound recording. The equivalent noise level is 13 dB. The housing is black, and the mounting thread is 5/8"-27 female, and with the included adapter, a 3/8"-16 thread can also be used. With a weight of 136 g and a length of 369 mm, the microphone offers a practical format for field work and in various sound recording configurations.
