Description
The Leica SL3-P is a full-frame mirrorless camera with L-Mount, designed for professional photographers and videographers who need high resolution, fast performance and professional video recording capabilities in a single body. The camera uses a 36 × 24 mm BSI CMOS sensor with an effective resolution of 44.9 MP, which creates images with a maximum size of 8144 × 5424 pixels and records photos in DNG and JPEG formats with 14-bit depth. For maximum flexibility in different lighting conditions, the photo mode offers Dual Base ISO 400, a native ISO range of 50 to 200,000 in manual mode and 100 to 200,000 in automatic mode. The camera combines a mechanical focal-plane shutter and an electronic rolling shutter, with the electronic shutter operating from 1/16,000 to 30 minutes, and the mechanical from 1/8,000 to 30 minutes. This allows for both high-speed shooting and long exposures.

Hybrid autofocus and high-speed shooting
The focus system combines automatic and manual focus, Touch AF & Shutter and Subject Tracking with recognition and tracking of people, eyes, animals and vehicles. The hybrid AF system has 819 phase and 315 contrast points, ensuring precise focusing in a variety of shooting situations. The Leica SL3-P is also designed for dynamic photography, offering continuous shooting at up to 40 frames per second at maximum resolution for up to 70 frames in RAW or JPEG. For additional detail, the camera also offers a 176 MP Multishot mode, which is suitable for static scenes and high-resolution photography. Exposure can be controlled via Aperture Priority, Auto, Manual, Program and Shutter Priority modes, with compensation from -3 to +3 EV, and the white balance works in the range of 2000–11,500 K.
8K video and professional recording formats
The Leica SL3-P is a full-featured hybrid system that offers a wide range of professional video formats. The camera records internally H.265 Long GOP/MOV 4:2:0 8/10-bit with resolutions up to 8K, H.265 Long GOP/MP4 4:2:0 10-bit, ProRes 422 HQ and H.264 All-Intra/MOV 4:2:2 10-bit. The maximum internal resolution reaches 8064 × 5376 at 23.98/24 fps, and 8K UHD recording reaches 7680 × 4320 at 23.98/25/29.97 fps. In 4K, the camera offers up to 120 fps, and Full HD recording reaches 120 fps for smooth slow-motion footage. ProRes 422 HQ allows recording up to DCI 6K, and H.264 All-Intra provides 10-bit 4:2:2 recording up to DCI 4K. RAW output is available via HDMI, including up to 8128 × 5418 at 23.98 fps, providing additional freedom for professional off-camera recording. Video recording supports HDR-HLG, and the camera has no maximum recording length limit.
Stabilization, professional monitoring and connectivity
Built-in 5-axis Sensor-Shift stabilization provides a more stable image when shooting handheld and is especially useful when working with longer exposures or video. Framing is done via the 5.76-megapixel EyeRes OLED electronic viewfinder with approximately 0.76x magnification, 100% coverage and 21 mm eye point. For operation via the LCD display, the camera features a 3.2-inch tilting touchscreen with 2,332,800 dots, as well as a top 1.2-inch status display. Connectivity includes 1× HDMI output, 1× 3.5 mm stereo headphone output, 1× 3.5 mm stereo microphone input, 1× USB-C input and 1× USB-C 3.1/3.2 Gen 2 data output shared with the power input. Wireless communication is achieved via Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and Bluetooth 5.0, and the Leica FOTOS app for Android and iOS allows access to files, change settings, remote control, live view and firmware update.
Two high-speed slots and a sturdy construction
For storage, the Leica SL3-P features 1× CFexpress Type B slot and 1× SD/SDHC/SDXC slot with UHS-II support, which provides the necessary speed for the large files generated by 8K video and high-resolution photography. The camera uses a rechargeable BP-SCL6 lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 2200 mAh and a voltage of 7.2 V, which provides approximately 383 shots according to the stated specifications. The housing is made of aluminum and magnesium alloy and is protected with an IP54 rating, which provides additional protection when working in adverse conditions. The dimensions are 151.45 × 108.05 × 84.6 mm, and the body weight is 768 g.
