Description
The SmallRig 5874 Cooling Fan for Nikon ZR is an external cooling module designed to reduce the camera's temperature during long-term video shooting and high-load operation. The system helps dissipate heat and reduces the likelihood of automatic recording interruption due to overheating, making it suitable for long-term interviews, events, streaming, and studio work.
Cooling is achieved through a combination of a thermoelectric module (TEC) and a high-speed fan with a maximum speed of 7,000 rpm. The two technologies work together to effectively remove heat from the camera body and maintain a lower operating temperature during extended high-resolution recording.
The fan offers two operating modes – low and high speed, allowing cooling to be tailored to the specific workload. For lighter tasks, the lower speed can be used for quieter operation, while for continuous 4K or 8K video recording, the maximum mode can be selected for more intensive cooling.
The model uses a tool-free mounting system that allows the cooling module to be attached or removed in just a few seconds. The specially designed mounting frame ensures direct compatibility with the Nikon ZR without interfering with the operation of the LCD monitor. However, the cooling module must be removed before the monitor can be folded back into the camera body.
The device does not have a built-in battery and is powered by external power via USB-C. For longer field work, it can be used with compatible SmallRig V-Mount mounting plates and V-Mount batteries. After removing the mounting frame, the cooling module can also be used with selected Sony mirrorless cameras, making it a universal solution for photographers and videographers working with different systems.
