The SmallRig 5518 HawkLock Quick Release Cage Kit for Sony A7R V / A7 IV / A7S III (Adv Ed) (Bumblebee) is a professional kit designed for camera operators and content creators who use the Sony Alpha 7R V, Alpha 7 IV and Alpha 7S III cameras in more complex shooting configurations. In addition to the protective cage, the kit includes a top handle, a rotating side handle, a monitor stand and an HDMI cable clamp, allowing you to build a complete rig without the need to purchase additional basic accessories.
The HawkLock system, which is used with Cold Shoe mounts, NATO rails and Arca-Type bases, is integrated into the base of the kit. It allows for quick attachment and removal of compatible accessories, while remaining compatible with standard Arca-Swiss brackets, NATO accessories and Cold Shoe equipment. This way, the cage can be integrated into both new and existing rig configurations.
The cage uses a three-point lock that holds the camera securely and prevents twisting when using heavier lenses or external accessories. This is especially important when working with follow focus systems, external monitors, and wireless video transmitters, where even the slightest movement of the camera can affect the stability of the entire rig.
The included monitor stand allows 180° tilt and 360° horizontal rotation, making it easy to compose your shot whether you’re shooting from a high, low or sideways position. The top handle is ergonomically designed to provide a more comfortable grip when carrying the equipment, as well as better control when shooting from a low angle. The side handle can be smoothly rotated via a locking mechanism, allowing its position to be adapted to different working styles and operator preferences.
The kit offers extensive expansion options thanks to multiple 1/4"-20 threads, ARRI 3/8"-16 holes with anti-twist pins, Cold Shoe rails, NATO rails, QD socket and strap holes. This allows the simultaneous use of an external monitor, microphone, LED lighting, wireless video transmitter, handles and other professional accessories without the need for additional mounting plates.
For added convenience, the cage and side handle feature built-in mounting tools that are always at hand for quick on-set adjustments. The included HDMI cable retainer protects the camera connector and reduces the risk of signal interruption when moving or working with an external recorder and monitor.
