The Elgato Wave XLR Audio Controller MK2 is a compact USB audio interface and controller designed for streaming, podcasting, and recording, featuring an XLR microphone input, 48V phantom power, up to 80 dB of gain, 24-bit/48 kHz audio processing, and direct control via a multifunction wheel, all powered via USB-C. This makes it an extremely convenient solution for content creators who want professional sound without a complicated setup.
The device features one balanced XLR input, which allows the use of high-quality dynamic and condenser microphones. Thanks to a wide gain range of up to 80 dB and low self-noise (-130 dB EIN), the Wave XLR MK2 provides clean and detailed sound, even with microphones with lower sensitivity. The built-in 48V phantom power can be switched on and off as needed.
Control is intuitive and fast via a central rotary encoder that allows adjustment of input level, monitoring and headphone volume. Automatic level control is also supported, as is a quick mute function.
The interface offers a headphone output (3.5 mm TRS), allowing direct monitoring without latency. Audio processing is at 48 kHz and 24-bit depth, providing a dynamic range of up to 135 dB and a frequency response of 20 Hz – 20 kHz for maximum detail.
The Wave XLR MK2 also features a built-in high-pass filter (80–120 Hz) that reduces unwanted low-frequency noise, such as vibrations and background noise. This makes it particularly suitable for home and unprepared acoustic environments.
The connection is made via a USB-C interface (USB 3.0/3.1), and the device is powered directly from the computer (bus power), without the need for an external power supply. It is compatible with Windows 11 and macOS 14.2 or later versions.
The compact body (118 x 93 x 73 mm) and weight of only 318 g make it easy to integrate into any configuration from minimalist to mobile. This makes it an excellent solution for anyone looking for professional audio quality in a small and efficient format.
