The Sigma 28-105mm T3 is a professional cinema zoom lens for full-frame cameras with Sony E-Mount, combining a wide focal range, constant aperture and a modern autofocus system, designed to meet the needs of both classic cinema productions and dynamic shooting situations. With a range of 28 to 105mm and a 3.75x zoom, this lens covers almost the entire spectrum of shots from wide scenes to detailed shots, allowing for smooth transitions without the need to change lenses.
The autofocus system is a key element in its versatility. Powered by a high-speed linear motor, it provides fast, smooth and precise response, maintaining stable tracking of moving subjects. This makes the lens extremely suitable for action scenes, gimbal work, handheld shooting and documentary projects, where the situation changes dynamically and there is no time for manual corrections. At the same time, full manual control is retained, allowing precise work in cinema setups with a focus puller.
The constant T3 aperture ensures even exposure throughout the zoom range, which is especially important when moving the camera or changing the frame. The minimum T22 aperture gives additional control in bright light. The 12 rounded diaphragm blades create soft and natural bokeh, which contributes to the cinematic look.
The optical construction of 18 elements in 13 groups is optimized for full-frame sensors and provides high sharpness and contrast across the entire frame. The angle of view varies from 65.5° to 19.5°, allowing for a smooth transition from wide to narrow shots. The minimum focusing distance of 40 cm and the 0.32x (1:3.1) magnification allow for detailed close-up shots with good depth of field.
The design follows professional cinema standards with 0.8 MOD gear rings for focus, zoom and iris, compatible with follow focus systems. The 200° focus travel provides high precision, the 70° zoom rotation allows smooth transitions, and the 54° iris control provides fine control over exposure. The included support heel with 1/4"-20 thread provides stability when working with rigs.
With a front diameter of 95 mm and a filter thread of 82 mm, the lens is compatible with professional matte boxes and filters. At 157.9 mm long and weighing 1.3 kg, it remains compact enough for both studio and mobile use. This makes it a versatile solution for operators looking for maximum flexibility, cinematic control and advanced autofocus functionality in a single lens.
