Description
The Tamron 35-100mm f/2.8 Di III VXD - Sony E lens is a fast standard to short telephoto zoom lens designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras. With a 35-100mm range and a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture throughout the zoom range, the model offers versatility for a variety of genres from reportage and street photography to portraits, events and video production.
The constant f/2.8 aperture ensures stable exposure as the focal length changes, allowing for efficient work in low light. Combined with the 9-blade rounded diaphragm, smooth and natural bokeh with good subject-background separation is achieved.
The optical construction includes 15 elements in 13 groups, optimized for high resolution and aberration control throughout the range. The angle of view ranges from 63° 26' at 35mm to 24° 25' at 100mm, allowing for both wider scenes and more compressed portrait shots.
The minimum focusing distance is 22.1 cm at the wide end and 65 cm at the telephoto end, with a maximum magnification of 0.3x (1:3.3), allowing for close-up detail. This also makes the lens suitable for semi-macro applications.
Tamron uses a VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) autofocus system, which provides fast, accurate, and relatively quiet focusing – important for both stills and video. The lens does not have built-in optical stabilization, relying on in-body stabilization on compatible Sony E cameras.
At 80.6mm in diameter, 121.5mm in length and 575g in weight, the 35-100mm f/2.8 remains relatively compact for a lens of this range and aperture. The filter thread is 67mm, allowing the use of standard filters.
