Description
Compact Audio Interface for Studio and Mobile Work The MOTU M4 is a USB audio interface with four analog inputs and four outputs, designed for musicians, producers, podcasters and content creators who need quality recording and flexible connectivity options. The device supports resolutions up to 24-bit / 192 kHz and combines microphone, instrument and line inputs with separate monitoring and headphone outputs. The compact body and USB power supply make it suitable for both home studios and mobile recording.
Inputs for microphones, instruments and line signals
The interface features two combo XLR/TRS inputs that support microphone, line, and Hi-Z signals. This allows direct connection of microphones, electric guitars, bass guitars, and other audio sources. Two additional 1/4" TRS inputs are designed for line signals from external preamps, synthesizers, and other studio equipment. Input gain adjustment is done via separate controllers, and the available 48 V phantom power can be turned on or off independently for each microphone input.
Flexible monitoring and connectivity options
The MOTU M4 offers four balanced 1/4" TRS line outputs for connecting to studio monitors and other professional audio equipment. An additional four RCA outputs provide the ability to connect to devices with unbalanced inputs. A separate headphone output allows for audio monitoring during recording and playback. The variety of connections makes the interface suitable for configurations where simultaneous use of different audio devices is required.
Precise control via color display
The built-in color LCD display provides visual information about signal levels, making it easy to monitor inputs and outputs during operation. This is especially useful when recording, when it is important to monitor the level of the input signal and avoid overloading. The interface supports direct monitoring with zero latency, so the input signal can be heard without the delay characteristic of monitoring through software. Actual latency when working through a computer depends on system settings and audio buffer size.
USB-C connectivity and MIDI integration
The MOTU M4 uses USB-C to connect to a computer and is powered directly from the USB port, without the need for a separate power adapter. The interface also features a five-pin MIDI input and output, allowing you to connect compatible MIDI keyboards, controllers, and other devices. This allows the M4 to be integrated into a music system that includes both audio and MIDI equipment. The device does not have digital audio inputs and outputs, a built-in DSP processor, or wireless connectivity.
Compact design for different workspaces
Measuring approximately 21 x 10.8 x 4.5 cm and weighing approximately 700 g, the MOTU M4 takes up little space on your desktop and is easy to carry between locations. USB powering reduces the number of cables needed and makes it easy to use with a laptop. The interface is suitable for home and project studios, music production, podcasting, video content creation and other applications that require quality analog inputs and outputs in a compact format.
