The Genelec 8040 BPM Active Studio Monitor is a professional active studio monitor designed for situations where extremely accurate, powerful and reliable monitoring in nearfield and midfield environments is required. This model is part of Genelec's established series, used in recording studios, post-production complexes, television and radio stations, as well as in high-end home studios where reproduction accuracy is critical.
The monitor relies on a two-way active architecture, where low and high frequencies are controlled by separate amplifier stages. Each of the two built-in amplifiers has a power of 90 W, which provides stable dynamic headroom, low distortion and excellent control over the speakers even at high sound pressure levels. The total output power of 180 W allows the Genelec 8040 BPM to cover larger rooms compared to smaller models in the series.
The 6.5" woofer delivers thick, deep and controlled bass that extends down to approximately 45 Hz without losing definition or creating artificial coloration. The high-frequency metal dome tweeter is designed for maximum clarity and detail in the mid and high frequencies, which is especially important for mixing, mastering and critical listening.
The monitor's housing is made of aluminum and uses a bass-reflex design that optimizes low-frequency reproduction and minimizes turbulence and resonance. The shape of the housing and the built-in waveguide help to evenly disperse the sound and maintain a stable stereo image, even when the listener's position changes. The monitor is shielded, making it suitable for use near other sensitive electronic devices.
The Genelec 8040 BPM features a balanced XLR input, providing reliable connectivity to professional audio equipment and low noise. Built-in acoustic adaptation settings allow fine-tuning of the bass and treble frequencies so that the monitor is optimally matched to the room acoustics and its placement.
