Description
The GENELEC 8010 AP Active Studio Monitor is an ultra-compact, two-way active studio monitor designed for situations where space is limited but reference accuracy and controlled reproduction are required. The model is part of Genelec's proven 8000 series and is aimed at small studios, mobile setups, post-production, broadcast environments and installations where size is critical but compromises with sound are not allowed.
The monitor uses a 3" woofer and a 0.7" metal dome tweeter, driven by two separate 25 W Class-D amplifiers for high and low frequencies. This bi-amp configuration provides clean dynamics, low distortion and excellent control over the entire frequency spectrum. The frequency range reaches from 67 Hz to 25 kHz (-6 dB), and the frequency response remains extremely flat throughout the operating range, making the 8010 AP suitable for precise monitoring and critical listening.
The housing is made of cast aluminum, which not only reduces resonances, but also allows for a compact form with high mechanical stability. The bass-reflex design supports the reproduction of low frequencies, and the maximum sound pressure reaches 105 dB peak, which is impressive for a monitor of this size. The harmonic distortion level is below 0.08%, which guarantees a clean and neutral sound.
The GENELEC 8010 AP features a balanced XLR input suitable for professional audio interfaces and mixers, as well as built-in low-frequency correction settings – LF Shelf and LF Tilt, which allow adaptation to room acoustics or monitor positioning. The power supply is universal 100–240 V, and the low standby power consumption makes it suitable for permanent installations.
