Description
The IK Multimedia iLoud Sub active monitor is a compact yet powerful active studio subwoofer designed to extend the low-frequency range of small to medium-sized monitor systems without compromising mix accuracy. It is an ideal complement to the iLoud Micro Monitor, iLoud MTM, and other studio monitors used in home studios, post-production, podcasting, and multimedia environments.
At the heart of the subwoofer is a 6.5-inch aluminum speaker, assisted by two passive membranes of the same size, which allows for deep and controlled bass in a surprisingly compact housing. Amplification is entrusted to a Class-D amplifier with a power of 160 W RMS and 200 W peak, ensuring stable dynamics and clean reproduction even at higher levels.
iLoud Sub covers a frequency range of 25 Hz to 150 Hz (-6 dB), allowing for true tracking of sub-bass information in music mixing and sound design. The built-in crossover offers switchable frequencies of 50 Hz and 80 Hz, facilitating integration with various monitor systems. Thanks to internal DSP processing, the transition between the subwoofer and studio monitors remains smooth and balanced.
In terms of connectivity, the iLoud Sub is extremely flexible. It features balanced XLR/TRS combo inputs, unbalanced RCA inputs, and corresponding XLR and RCA outputs, allowing direct connection between an audio interface and monitors. Built-in Bluetooth connectivity adds the added convenience of quick reference listening from mobile devices without affecting the main studio setup.
The enclosure is a closed type with passive membranes, which minimizes unwanted resonances and provides a tighter and more accurate bass than classic bass-reflex solutions. With a maximum sound pressure of up to 106 dB SPL, the subwoofer remains suitable for near-field and controlled environments, without dominating or obscuring details.
With its compact dimensions of 28.2 × 24.9 × 24.4 cm and a weight of 7.1 kg, the iLoud Sub easily fits under a desk or in a confined space. This makes it an excellent choice for modern studios where space is limited but accuracy is a priority.
