The compact body is equipped with a full-frame sensor - a 61-megapixel Exmor R CMOS, which provides an exceptional level of detail, dynamic range and flexibility in post-processing. This is the same sensor used in models such as the Sony A7R V - a guarantee of class-leading image quality. The new model uses the proven Carl Zeiss Sonnar 35mm f/2 classic fixed focal length lens. Thanks to fixed optics and the absence of interchangeable lens mechanisms, the RX1R III is optimized for maximum sharpness and speed. Although the RX1R III has a fixed 35mm lens, Sony has added a new feature - Step Crop Shooting - which allows the image to be automatically cropped to the equivalent of a 50mm and 70mm lens. This gives the user additional flexibility, and the high resolution of the sensor ensures excellent cropped images.
One of the major advancements in the RX1R III is the introduction of the BIONZ XR processor, aided by AI algorithms. This combination enables intelligent autofocus with face and eye detection (including animals), as well as excellent tracking of moving subjects. With 693 phase-detection focus points covering most of the frame, the camera offers the same speed and accuracy as Sony’s flagship Alpha models.
Video capabilities have also been significantly improved. The RX1R III shoots DCI 4K video at 30 frames per second, as well as Full HD 1080p at 120 fps, making it suitable for slow motion clips. Thanks to support for the S-Cinetone profile, video has an expressive cinematic look. Built-in microphones, a high-resolution electronic viewfinder and accurate autofocus make the camera an excellent choice for content creators who demand quality and discretion.
The RX1R III's body is made of durable magnesium alloy, and its compact size allows the camera to fit into a jacket or small bag. This makes it an ideal companion for travel, street photography, or everyday use. No weight, no need for a bulky lens kit - just one camera that can capture almost anything.
