The Alpha 65 EVO monitor is based on a 6.5-inch woofer with a Slatefiber membrane, an innovative material developed by Focal, which offers excellent damping, structural stability and high efficiency at low and mid frequencies. The high-frequency range is covered by a 25 mm (1”) aluminum driver with an inverted dome, providing a detailed, precise and well-distributed high-frequency response. Together, these components provide a frequency range from 40 Hz to 22 kHz with precise stereo imaging and minimal distortion.
The speakers are powered by a bi-amplified Class D amplifier circuit with 55 W for the low/mid frequencies and 30 W for the high frequencies. This allows a maximum sound pressure of 104 dB SPL (peak @ 1 m), suitable for both near-field and larger studio spaces. Adjustable low, mid and high frequency levels (+/-6 dB for LF/MF and +/-3 dB for HF) facilitate the acoustic adaptation of the monitor to the room.
The monitor offers three input options, balanced TRS and XLR connectors with 10kΩ impedance, as well as RCA (unbalanced) with compensated sensitivity, allowing for use with a variety of audio interfaces, consoles and players. The sensitivity setting is adjustable to 0 dB or +6 dB, contributing to even more flexible integration into different systems.
The cabinet is constructed from solid 15mm MDF and finished with a black vinyl and lacquer finish for aesthetics and durability. The bass reflex port on the rear panel provides extended low-frequency performance without compromising on precision. The design allows for both vertical and horizontal positioning, facilitating paired or surround system configurations.
The built-in automatic Standby function activates a power-saving mode after about 15 minutes of inactivity (with an input signal below 6 mV), and the user has a rear power button and LED indicators for operating status.
