The Sound Devices MixPre-3 II audio recorder is a compact yet extremely powerful professional field recorder designed for the highest level of audio recording in film, documentary productions, podcasts, music and field recordings. Combining Sound Devices' legendary Kashmir preamps and 32-bit float recording, the device guarantees crystal-clear sound without the risk of clipping – even with unexpected signal peaks.
The recorder features 3 XLR mic/line inputs with individual +48V phantom power and the ability to record up to 5 tracks simultaneously (3 inputs plus stereo mix). Support for frequencies up to 192 kHz and an exceptional dynamic range of 142 dB provide detail and transparency comparable to high-end studio systems.
The MixPre-3 II features a built-in timecode generator and SMPTE I/O, making it perfect for camera synchronization and multi-camera productions. The pre-record buffer captures audio before you press REC, and built-in limiters and low-cut filters help ensure a secure, controlled recording.
The 1.6" color touchscreen display provides intuitive operation, and via Bluetooth and the Wingman app, the recorder can be controlled remotely from a smartphone or tablet. The device also functions as a multi-channel USB audio interface, making it an extremely flexible solution both in the field and in the studio.
Power is adaptable via AA batteries, USB-C or Sony L-Series batteries with hot-swap capability, ensuring uninterrupted operation during long shooting days.
