The Rycote Super-Softie Kit 416 is a professional windscreen kit designed specifically for shotgun microphones such as the Sennheiser MKH-416, MKH-418, Rode NTG-3 and Neumann KMR81i. This kit combines a soft yet durable “softie” windscreen with a universal mount that allows it to be used on both stand-mounted and camera-mounted microphones. It is designed to reduce wind noise, maintain sound clarity during movement and provide protection in studio and field conditions.
The Rycote soft windscreen is made from a special material called 3D-Tex, which, in combination with open-cell foam, creates an effective wind barrier without significantly affecting the microphone's directional characteristics. The smooth aerodynamic shape reduces the noise produced as the microphone moves through the air, which is important for outdoor reporting or film work.
The kit provides a soft grip around the microphone body thanks to a slip-on design. If it gets wet or covered in dust, the material can be easily shaken out or rinsed and restored to its function without any significant loss of quality.
The mounting is very flexible: the kit includes a universal shock-mount holder that can be attached either to the microphone or to a stand, and there is also an adapter for attaching to the camera's shoe (hot or cold shoe), allowing for a comfortable position without additional accessories.
