8.6K full frame sensor

The Sony CineAlta BURANO is equipped with an 8.6K full-frame CMOS sensor, which also offers the possibility of shooting in Super35 mode, an impressive dynamic range of 16 steps with low noise levels, excellent HDR. Dual base ISO 800/3200 allows for excellent low-light HDR recording.

ARRI PL and Sony E mount

Like the Sony VENICE series cinema cameras, the BURANO features a PL and E mount, with the PL mount supporting Cooke/I and ZEISS eXtended Data and the E mount metadata when using Sony E mount lenses.

Fast hybrid autofocus

The Sony BURANO cinema camera offers autofocus when using Sony E-mount lenses, including human eye focusing for precise operation even when the operator is alone.

Built-in image stabilization

The Sony BURANO CineAlta is the first digital cinema camera to feature sensor stabilization. It works efficiently with both Sony and PL mount lenses.

When the camera is equipped with a PL lens, the stabilization compensates on 3 axes, and when working with a Sony E-mount lens - on 5 axes with three different settings.

Built-in ND filter

A built-in ND filter with electronic control allows solo operators to easily and quickly adjust exposure when needed.

The filter offers 7 density steps from 0.6 to 2.1.

Various frame rates and codecs

The Sony BURANO camcorder offers a variety of resolution and frame rate options, including full frame 8.6K @ 30 fps, crop 6K @ 60 fps, Super35 5.8K crop 4K @ 120 fps. The camera supports internal XAVC H H.265 recording, 16-bit X-OCN LT for excellent raw footage, XAVC-I and XAVC-L for UHD 4K and FHD.

A rich interface in a compact body

The Sony BURANO enclosure offers 12G/6G/3G-SDI, 3G-SDI and HDMI outputs, 3-pin XLR audio inputs, timecode, genlock and reference I/O and a 1000BASE-T LANC terminal. Wireless connectivity is also available.

The size is compact and the weight is relatively low thanks to the magnesium alloy used. The active cooling system is isolated from the rest of the electronics, which prevents dust and moisture from entering, and the silent fan is in an easy-to-replace module.
