Dedicated to the art of black-and-white photography, the Leica M11 Monochrom combines the brand's classic design with increased resolution and updated connectivity, adding a modified 60MP sensor for exceptional black-and-white images.
Based on the high-resolution, back-illuminated sensor design, the M11 Monochrom modifies a 60MP Full-Frame CMOS sensor by removing the Color Filters (CFA), which offers the ability to record only monochromatic images using only brightness values for improved clarity, depth and resolution. By omitting this CFA, the camera achieves a higher sensitivity range (compared to color-enabled M11 cameras) of ISO 125-200,000.
The Leica M11 Monochrom also retains the Triple Resolution technology first debuted on the M11 , which allows shooting at lower resolutions ( 60MP, 36MP or 18MP) with each resolution using the entire sensor area, and at lower values there is an improvement in dynamic range and noise levels.
The Maestro III processor contributes to the fast processing, continuous shooting of up to 4.5 frames per second and triple resolution technology of the M11 Monochrom, as well as helping to achieve a wider sensitivity range than previous M cameras. With ISO 125-200000, the Leica M11 Monochrom features enhanced detail and greater flexibility when working in low-light conditions.
The body of the Leica M11 Monochrom is equipped with an optical viewfinder with 0.73x magnification and automatic parallax compensation, a 3-inch touchscreen display with 2.33 million dots, an updated design and a durable, scratch-resistant sapphire glass coating .
A built-in Wi-Fi module and Bluetooth are available for easy file sharing and wireless control via a connected mobile device. With the FOTOS application for iOS it is possible to geotag photos, rate and select favorites.
The Leica M11 Monochrom is the first M camera without a removable bottom plate, instead borrowing the approach of the Q and SL series, with the battery going directly into the body. The new lithium-ion battery BP-SCL7 has 64% more capacity than previous generations and CIPA rating and is 700 shots, and if working only through the optical viewfinder is about 1700. The UHS-II SD card slot is in the compartment at battery, but the camera also has 256GB of built-in memory, which means you can completely forego the use of a memory card or combine them for better file organization. Also on the bottom of the camera is the USB-C port, which can be used to charge the camera or transfer photos.
