The Blackmagic Design Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 broadcast camera is a compact and lightweight 4K model specially developed for filming live broadcasts.
The camera offers live streaming and professional connectivity capabilities such as 12G-SDI output and a 10GbE Ethernet port that enables SMPTE workflow with a budget single cable and PoE solution. It can be used as a remote camera anywhere in the world to generate an H.264 live stream signal and tally, talkback and control information for transmission over the Internet, with the streaming signal then converted back.
Blackmagic Design Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 retains many of the positive features of its predecessor - Blackmagic Raw recording, HDR support, HDMI output, XLR audio, 7-inch touchscreen display and the popular micro 4/3 mount.
The body of the camera is made of polycarbonate reinforced with carbon fibers and is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen HDR display for maximum ease of monitoring and control, while also supporting 3D LUT for reviewing the footage. The camera is equipped with two built-in microphones and a built-in speaker.
The Blackmagic Design Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 offers an ISO range of 100 (-12 dB gain) to 25,600 (+36 dB gain) and is optimized to effectively control image noise and grain while preserving the full dynamic range of the sensor . The main native ISO value is 400, suitable for shooting in a studio, and the secondary - 3200, usable in low light conditions.
The 4K sensor (4096 x 2160) combined with fifth generation Blackmagic color science provides an image like that of digital cinema cameras with 13 stops of dynamic range, and with the built-in DaVinci Resolve primary color corrector, the images are better than those of ordinary broadcast cameras.
In addition to a touchscreen display, the Blackmagic Design Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 is also equipped with a set of buttons and controllers that allow quick and convenient adjustment of brightness, contrast, focus peaking, zebra, LUTs, etc., and the buttons can be assigned different functions.
The camera has a built-in tally indicator for its status with a red indication for air, green for preview and orange for ISO recording. Transparent number plates can be attached to the indicator for easier orientation. The camera supports the SDI tally standard of Blackmagic Design ATEM switches and the HDMI tally standard of ATEM Mini.
The Blackmagic Design Studio Camera 4K Pro G2's SDI connectivity supports talkback for seamless communication between operators and the director or console operator. There are also headphone and microphone connectors, USB-C ports, 10G-Base-T Ethernet and balanced XLR audio inputs.
