The optical design of the lens is identical to that of the variant for Canon DLSR cameras - the familiar Canon EF 400mm f / 2.8L IS III USM. Super UD and fluorite elements correct the various aberrations for maximum image clarity and color accuracy.
The stabilization of the Canon RF 400mm f / 2.8L IS USM compensates up to 5.5 steps to allow manual shooting.
The rounded aperture with 9 elements provides a smooth and pleasant bokeh, and the coatings of the Super Spectra and Air Sphere lenses minimize ghosts and glare in adverse lighting conditions.
Canon RF 400mm f / 2.8L IS USM provides fast, quiet and precise autofocus with two settings for memorization and fast return to selected focusing distances. An electronic ring allows the use of 3 different speeds for manual focusing.
The housing is resistant to dust and moisture and is equipped with a removable tripod collar.
