The Canon EF 40mm f / 2.8 STM is a pancake lens with superior optical performance. With its small size, the EF 40mm f / 2.8 STM is suitable for unobtrusive street and travel photography, and although developed for the Canon full-frame DSLR with EF bayonet, when used with an APS-C camera it also turns into a spectacular portrait lens. The EF 40mm f / 2.8 STM is one of the first Canon lenses to feature a STM stepper motor that delivers smooth, near-silent autofocus.

Low-light shooting
The aperture range of f / 2.8–22 provides control of the depth of field, allowing you to limit or extend the range of acceptable focus as needed. The large maximum aperture of the aperture allows shooting without flash and without a tripod in low light.
Fast, accurate autofocus guarantees detailed images even in complex situations. Movie Servo AF mode uses STM technology with stepper motor for smooth and quiet autofocus when recording video with Canon compatible DSLR cameras.
The 40mm universal focal length is perfect for traveling. It handles everything from portrait to landscape and street photography. Superb full-frame image quality thanks to aspherical lenses and Super Spectra coatings.
