Ideal for use in a wide range of lighting conditions, the maximum aperture of f / 4 remains constant over the entire focal length range, thus not changing the shutter speed or ISO sensitivity when working with the zoom.
Sharp images with image stabilizer (4 steps slower shutter speed)
The EF 16-35mm f / 4L IS USM delivers steady images in all situations, especially when shooting without a tripod in low light or with the Macro setting. The lens uses Canon's Image Stabilizer, which allows shooting at up to 4 steps slower shutter speed and automatically recognizes normal or panoramic shooting, switching to IS mode, which is suitable for either situation.
Ultrasonic focusing
The ultrasonic ring motor provides extremely fast autofocus, at the same time almost silent. The excellent holding torque ensures accurate and precise reaching of the focus point without going beyond it. Manual focus at any time allows you to fine-tune the focus without having to cancel the autofocus mode.
Smooth defocusing of the background
The 9-element circular aperture gives the out-of-focus areas an extra sense of softness and evenness - making foreground objects stand out sharply against a beautiful and smoothly defocused background.
Superb image quality
The EF 16-35mm f / 4L IS USM combines three aspherical elements to provide sharpness across the entire frame area and clarity over the entire focal range. Two UD (ultra-low scattering) elements virtually eliminate chromatic distortion. Super Spectra coatings guarantee accurate color balance and enhance contrast. They also reduce glare - a common problem caused by the light reflected from the camera's sensor. Fluorine coatings protect the outer elements (front and back) of the lens from dust and water droplets for optimum image quality.
0.28 m minimum focusing distance
With only a 0.28m focusing distance across the full zoom range, you can get close to your subjects and still enjoy wide field of view.
