The constant aperture of the diaphragm also gives you optimum control over the depth of field. The new 9-element diaphragm provides a perfectly circular aperture that provides an evenly defocused background with a beautiful bokeh effect. Next generation optical construction
Featured with the latest advances in optical technology, the EF 24-70mm f / 2.8L II USM uses three aspherical elements to provide the highest image quality possible for a lens with such focal length. Significantly reduced chromatic aberration and reduced color blurring shorten the sharpening time of the entire frame area, typically typical of fixed-focus lenses only.
What is an aspherical element?
The aspherical element is a special profile element built into the lens that corrects the distortion caused by the spherical profile of the classic lens elements.
