With its effective focal length range equivalent to approximately 16-35mm in 35mm format, the EF-S 10-22mm f / 3.5-4.5 USM is a remarkable lens with exceptional image quality that reveals new dimensions and areas for creative expression .
Beyond human perspective
Not only does the super-wide zoom angle give you the freedom to shoot exactly what you want, it also dramatically alters your dynamic expression capabilities. The lens allows you to get extremely close to objects, magnifying the difference in size between a close object and its background. Creative photographers can use this effect to create an excellent separation of the subject from the background to give a strong sense of presence or for panfocus (everything from foreground to background is in focus).
Small, lightweight, suitable for close-up shooting
Extremely light and compact for its focal length range, the EF-S 10-22mm f / 3.5-4.5 USM also has an incredibly close minimum focusing distance of just 24 cm.
Fast focus
Its ring-shaped USM motor works in sync with the camera, providing very fast and precise autofocus and predictive tracking - with the ability to focus manually at any time.
Designed for digital cameras
Designed specifically for digital photography, the lens incorporates special shape elements and Super Spectra coatings to reduce glare that can be caused by reflections from camera sensors. A special optional lens hood can further reduce glare.
Defocusing the background
The circular aperture provides a nice defocus of the background when shooting with a wide aperture, which is ideal for creating a sense of depth and for the object or pattern of the background.
