Big aperture f / 1.2
The large maximum aperture of f / 1.2 delivers remarkable low-light shooting speeds without the need for flash. The large aperture provides precise control of the depth of field.
Great background blur
The round aperture of the housing helps to create a nice, even background blur when isolating the subject with a wide aperture and to capture attractive portraits.
Fast, quiet autofocus
The ring USM (ultrasonic motor) uses vibration with ultrasonic frequency to drive ultra-fast autofocus with near-silent operation. A fast processor and an improved autofocus algorithm contribute even more to the speed of autofocus. A steady torque stops the focus group of lenses so that focus does not pass. Manual electronic focus adjustment is possible at all times, without the need to exit autofocus mode.
Super Spectra Coatings
Super Spectra lens coatings and the shape of the lens elements suppress the apertures and glare that are more common on digital cameras due to reflections from the image sensor. Coatings also help to balance the real colors and increase the contrast for live images, reproduced with great precision.
Provides E-TTL II distance information
The lens feeds information back to the E-TTL II flash system for optimum flash measurement.
