Description
The Audio-Technica BP4071L is a highly directional condenser shotgun microphone designed for professional audio recording in television, film and stage productions. With a length of 539 mm and a hypercardioid polar pattern, it is designed to capture sound from a specific direction, limiting the reception of sound off the main axis of the microphone.
Directional sound capture
The Audio Technica BP4071L uses a condenser element with a hypercardioid polar pattern and a mono sound field. The End Address orientation means that the microphone receives sound from its front end. The shotgun design and 21.2" length make it suitable for situations where the microphone must be positioned at a distance from the sound source, such as when recording dialogue, television productions, or stage performances.
Frequency range and sound pressure
The microphone offers a frequency response of 20 Hz to 18 kHz and a maximum sound pressure of 141 dB SPL. The sensitivity is -29 dB, and the dynamic range reaches 128 dB. Filter and pad
The BP4071L features a switchable low-pass filter at 80 Hz with a slope of 12 dB per octave. The filter allows for limiting low-frequency components that may be unwanted when recording. A built-in -10 dB pad reduces the input signal level and provides additional capability for operating at higher sound pressure levels.
Professional connectivity and installation
The microphone uses a 3-pin analog XLR output and operates with 48 V phantom power. The housing is black, with a diameter of 21 mm and a length of 539 mm, and its weight is 175 g. The mounting thread is 5/8"-27 female, and with the included adapter, a 3/8"-16 thread can also be used.
