Description
The DZOFilm Arcana 45mm T2.1 1.5X Anamorphic lens is a 45mm prime cine lens designed to create anamorphic images with 1.5x horizontal compression. This optical approach allows for the capture of more horizontal information, which is restored when the image is decompressed in post-production. The lens is designed for professional video production, short and feature films, music videos, commercials and other projects where visual style and widescreen composition are an important part of the story.
The 45mm focal length offers a versatile perspective for a variety of scenes from medium shots and portraits to shots with a wider context around the subject. The maximum aperture of T2.1 allows for work in a variety of lighting conditions and gives control over depth of field. The minimum aperture is T16, which provides additional range for exposure control according to lighting and creative requirements. The aperture is made up of 14 blades, which contribute to the character of the image in out-of-focus areas.
The 1.5x horizontal compression ratio is a key feature of the lens and defines the way in which the anamorphic image is processed for widescreen presentation. This format provides a different visual character than standard spherical lenses and allows for compositions with a cinematic perspective. The specified color of the flare is neutral, which is suitable for operators who prefer a more restrained flare character, without pronounced color tinting of light flares.
The optical system consists of 15 elements in 13 groups. The minimum focusing distance is 53 cm, measured from the camera sensor plane. This allows for both medium-range shots and closer compositions when the distance to the subject allows. The front diameter is 80 mm, and the filter thread is 77 mm, which should be taken into account when choosing filters and accessories. These dimensions are important when preparing a professional configuration, especially when the lens is used with a matte box, filters or other mounting systems.
The lens is equipped with focus and aperture gears with a 0.8 MOD standard, compatible with widely used follow focus systems and other cinema lens control mechanisms. The focus ring rotates 270°, providing a wide range for precise manual focus adjustment. The aperture ring rotates 51.96°, allowing controlled exposure changes during shooting. The focus scales are in imperial units, which is important to keep in mind when working with markings and planning focus positions in advance.
The DZOFilm Arcana 45mm uses an ARRI PL mount and is designed for cameras with a compatible mount. The full-frame sensor coverage allows for use with Full-Frame cinema cameras, provided the mount and other configuration are compatible. The lens has no electronic communication with the camera and does not have optical stabilization, so focus, aperture and other settings are controlled manually. This design is typical of cinema lenses, where physical control rings and mechanical controls are essential elements of the workflow.
The lens has a front diameter of 80 mm and a length of 80 mm, and its weight is approximately 695 g. The compact dimensions make it easy to integrate it into various shooting configurations, including systems where space and equipment balance are important. When preparing a rig, it is necessary to take into account the front diameter, filter thread and lack of stabilization, as well as the compatibility of the ARRI PL mount with the specific camera. The DZOFilm Arcana 45mm T2.1 1.5X Anamorphic is a solution for operators looking for manual control, full-frame coverage and anamorphic compression in a compact cinema lens.
