The Exascend Gecko Portable SSD 1TB USB-C Gen 2x2 is a professional external SSD designed for direct-to-camera recording and mobile work in high-bitrate video productions. The 1TB version offers high speed, durability, and a secure camera mount, making it suitable for dynamic shooting environments.
The model uses 3D TLC NAND memory and a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2x2 interface. In the 1TB version, the maximum sequential read speed reaches 1700 MB/s, and the write speed is up to 1600 MB/s. The sustained speeds are 1700 MB/s for reading and 1600 MB/s for writing, respectively, which allows for stable and continuous video recording without performance drops. This makes it suitable for 4K and 6K formats with compatible cameras.
One of the key features of the Gecko series is its secure mounting system. The SSD features a quick release design that allows for a stable and reliable attachment to the camera. This is especially important in professional photography, where the external media must remain stable when moving, rigging, or working handheld.
The housing is designed for mobile use and includes a protective rubber case. The dimensions are 115 x 57 x 18 mm, and the maximum weight with the case is 199 g. The device withstands shock up to 50G (11 ms, half sine wave), making it suitable for field conditions.
The endurance of the 1TB version is up to 3000 TBW, and the warranty is 5 years. Power consumption is under 8W during active operation and under 1W at rest, at an input voltage of 3.3V ±5%. The operating temperature is from 0°C to 70°C, and during storage – from -40°C to 85°C.
It is compatible with a range of Blackmagic Design, Fujifilm and Panasonic cameras, as well as Windows, macOS, Android and iOS devices.
