Camera RED V-RAPTOR [X] 8K VV - RF Mount

The RED V-RAPTOR [X] 8K VV - RF Mount Cinema Camera is RED's next-generation cinema camera, combining a VistaVision full-frame CMOS sensor (40.96 x 21.6 mm) with 35.4 MP (8192 x 4320) resolution, global shutter and extremely high frame rates. The camera is designed for productions that demand maximum performance from high-end cinema and commercials to VFX and extreme slow-motion shooting. With up to 17 stops of dynamic range and the RED IPP2 color palette, it delivers exceptional detail, rich color gamut and complete flexibility in post-production.

The global electronic shutter completely eliminates the rolling shutter effect, making the camera extremely suitable for dynamic scenes, action, automotive shots and visual effects. This is a key advantage when working with fast motion and complex compositing processes, where any deformation in the frame would be critical.

The RED V-RAPTOR [X] offers exceptional recording capabilities up to 8K at 120 fps in REDCODE RAW, as well as even higher frame rates at lower resolutions (up to 600 fps at 2K with sensor crop). REDCODE HQ, MQ and LQ formats up to 8K at ~60 fps are supported, allowing for optimized file size and workflow to suit production needs. This makes the camera equally suited to both heavy-duty film projects and more flexible shooting environments.

The system uses a Canon RF mount with full electronic communication and supports autofocus (continuous, single-servo and manual modes), making it significantly more flexible in modern shooting conditions, including run-and-gun, handheld shooting and working with stabilization systems. This sets it apart from traditional cinema systems that rely entirely on manual focus.

One of the most significant innovations is the integration of advanced virtual production tools. The camera optimizes work with GhostFrame and frame remapping technologies, recording separate R3D files for each subframe. At the same time, it allows independent monitoring of the different layers in real time via SDI outputs. This allows the director and actors to work with a standard green screen on set, while the VFX team simultaneously sees the final composite frame without the need to fix the background during shooting. This technology is also particularly valuable in live productions, where different graphic or advertising elements can be superimposed in real time on the same video content.

Recording is done on CFexpress Type B media, which provides the speed needed to handle 8K and high frame rate content. Connectivity includes 2x 12G-SDI video outputs for up to 4K 60 fps, a 5-pin LEMO audio input with +48V phantom power, a 3.5mm headphone output, as well as Timecode and Genlock for multi-camera synchronization. A USB-C port offers control, video and data transfer, while Wi-Fi adds additional flexibility.

Powered by Micro V-Mount batteries, it provides mobility and reliability in the field, while also allowing integration into professional shooting systems. The body is made of aluminum and is designed for efficient cooling during long shooting sessions. With compact dimensions (157 x 108 x 100 mm) and a weight of 1.8 kg, the camera offers exceptional performance in a small form factor. The 28 mounting points (1/4"-20) available allow for the construction of complex rig configurations, including for gimbals, drones and studio setups.
