The RED V-RAPTOR XE Cine Essentials - Z Mount is a complete, high-end cinema solution that combines the powerful V-RAPTOR XE camera with key professional accessories for immediate on-set work. The kit includes an RF to PL adapter with electronic ND filter, a 7-inch RED Touch LCD monitor with rigid hinge, a KOMODO Outrigger handle for a stable grip, and a 150W AC power supply, making it a ready-to-use system for studio and field productions from day one. At the heart of the system is a VistaVision CMOS sensor (40.96 x 21.6 mm) with a resolution of 35.4 MP (8192 x 4320), which provides exceptional detail, cinematic depth, and up to 17 stops of dynamic range.
One of the most important technologies in the model is the electronic global shutter, which completely eliminates the rolling shutter effect. This allows for absolutely accurate reproduction of motion without distortion, which is critical for action scenes, automotive shots, sports and VFX. Unlike standard cinema cameras, there is no compromise between dynamic range and speed here.
The RED V-RAPTOR XE supports internal recording in REDCODE RAW and REDCODE HQ up to 8K at 60 fps, offering complete freedom in post-production. In addition, Apple ProRes (422, 422 HQ, LT, 4444, 4444 XQ) allows for direct workflow up to DCI 4K at 120 fps. The camera also offers high-speed modes up to 240 fps at 2K (with crop), making it an excellent tool for cinematic slow motion. Recording is done on CFexpress Type B cards, which provide the necessary speed for working with 8K RAW.
The camera uses a Nikon Z mount, and the included RED Z to PL adapter with electronic ND filter greatly expands the possibilities of working with professional cinema lenses. The electronic ND allows for quick and precise exposure control without the need for external filters, which speeds up the workflow. Additionally, a shim kit and mounting brackets are included for maximum stability and accuracy.
The included RED Touch 7" LCD monitor provides convenient control and visualization, and the KOMODO Outrigger handle improves ergonomics when shooting handheld. Power via a DSMC 150W AC adapter allows for continuous operation in a studio environment, while Micro V-Mount batteries provide mobility in the field.
The body is made of aluminum and features compact dimensions (155.5 x 115.5 x 108 mm) and a weight of 1.8 kg. With 28 mounting points (1/4"-20) available, the camera can be easily integrated into complex rigs, gimbals and studio configurations.
Connectivity is fully geared towards professional production, with 2x 12G-SDI outputs for video up to 4K 60 fps, a 5-pin LEMO audio input with +48V phantom power, a 3.5mm headphone output, as well as Timecode and Genlock for synchronization in multi-camera environments. A USB-C port allows for control, data transfer and additional integration, while Wi-Fi provides additional connectivity.
