Description
Compact Audio Interface with Professional Capabilities The MOTU M2 is a two-analog input, two-output USB audio interface designed for musicians, producers, podcasters, and content creators. It supports recording and playback at resolutions up to 24-bit/192 kHz and offers a combination of microphone, line, and instrument inputs. Its compact body, USB power, and color LCD display make it a practical solution for home studios, mobile recording, and everyday audio work.
Two combo inputs for different sources
The MOTU M2 features two combo XLR/TRS inputs that support mic, line, and Hi-Z signals. This allows you to connect microphones, electric guitars, bass guitars, and other audio sources without the need for additional equipment for each type of signal. Input gain is adjustable via separate controls, and the gain range reaches up to +60 dB for mic inputs and +57 dB for line and Hi-Z inputs. 48V phantom power can be turned on or off independently for each input, making it easy to work with compatible condenser microphones.
Audio outputs for monitoring and playback
The interface offers two balanced 1/4" TRS line outputs for connecting to studio monitors, as well as a stereo RCA output for equipment with unbalanced inputs. A separate headphone output allows for monitoring during recording, editing, and playback. This configuration is suitable for compact workspaces where essential recording and monitoring connections are needed without overcomplicating the system.
Color display and direct monitoring
The built-in color LCD display provides visual information about signal levels and helps you track incoming audio while you work. This is useful when recording vocals, instruments, interviews, and podcasts, when it is important to monitor levels and avoid clipping. The direct monitoring feature allows you to listen to the incoming signal without the latency associated with processing it through computer software. When working through an audio application, the actual delay depends on your system settings and buffer size.
USB-C connectivity and MIDI in/out
The MOTU M2 connects to a computer via USB-C and is powered directly from USB, without a separate power adapter. The interface also features a five-pin MIDI input and output for connecting compatible MIDI keyboards, controllers, and other devices. This allows it to be integrated into music systems that use both audio and MIDI signals. The model does not have digital audio inputs and outputs, a built-in DSP processor, or wireless connectivity.
Compact format for studio and mobile work
Measuring approximately 7.5 x 4.2 x 1.7 inches (19.1 x 10.8 x 4.45 cm) and weighing approximately 1.7 ounces (600 g), the MOTU M2 takes up little desk space and can be easily transported to work in different locations. USB powering reduces the number of cables needed and makes it convenient to use with a laptop. The interface is suitable for home and project studios, music production, podcasting, voice recording, and video content creation where two inputs with high conversion quality and reliable monitoring are required.
