The Genelec 8040BMM active studio monitor is a professional active studio monitor designed for critical nearfield and midfield monitoring in environments where high sound power, precision and reliability are required. This model is widely used in professional recording studios, post-production complexes, television and radio stations, as well as in high-end home studios, where the balance between power and detail is of key importance.
The 8040BMM features a two-way active architecture, with each speaker having its own amplifier. The low-frequency and high-frequency ranges are powered by two independent 90W amplifiers, which provides extremely stable control, high dynamics and minimal distortion even at higher sound pressure levels. This allows the monitor to work confidently both in detailed mixing and in louder listening to evaluate dynamics and the low spectrum.
The low-frequency range is reproduced by a 6.5-inch high-efficiency speaker, which provides deep, dense and well-defined bass with a lower cut-off frequency of 45 Hz (-3 dB). The high frequencies are reproduced by a 19 mm metal dome tweeter, combined with the patented Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW), which improves the directionality and stability of the stereo image. The result is a uniform sound field, excellent localization and an extremely accurate frequency response.
The enclosure is made of die-cast aluminum and uses a bass-reflex design optimized for minimal resonance and high acoustic efficiency. The integrated Iso-Pod stand allows tilting and mechanical isolation from the work surface, which significantly reduces vibration and improves sound clarity. The monitor is magnetically shielded, making it suitable for use near sensitive electronics.
The Genelec 8040BMM features switchable EQ settings that allow adaptation to different rooms and positions – near a wall, on a console or in free space. The active crossover and protection circuits guarantee stable operation and component protection during prolonged professional use. An additional convenience is the automatic power-off mode that saves energy during inactivity.
