Description
The ADAM Audio A44H active studio monitor is a professional A-Series active studio monitor designed specifically for horizontal positioning and applications requiring extremely precise nearfield and midfield monitoring. The model is aimed at center channels, large work desks, post production, Dolby Atmos configurations and professional studios where symmetry and control of the sound field are critical.
The A44H uses a two-way active configuration with two 4-inch composite cone woofers and a 1-inch ribbon tweeter. The dual woofer configuration provides a larger diaphragm area, better control in the low and low-mid frequencies, and a more even distribution of sound pressure in a horizontal orientation. This is especially useful when dealing with dialogue, vocals, and center elements in the mix.
The frequency response spans from 46 Hz to 45 kHz (-6 dB), and in the operating range the monitor maintains linearity up to 41 kHz at ±3 dB. This provides extremely high detail, fast transient response and clarity in the high frequencies, which is typical of ADAM ribbon tweeters. The active crossover at 2.4 kHz ensures a smooth transition between low and high frequencies without phase artifacts.
The amplifier section is hybrid and optimized for frequency ranges. The low frequencies are driven by a powerful Class-D amplifier with 90 W RMS, while the high-frequency range uses Class-AB amplification with 15 W RMS. The total RMS power of 130 W provides stable dynamic headroom and a maximum sound pressure of up to 103 dB SPL (peak), suitable for professional monitoring without fatigue during long work.
The A44H features an advanced DSP section, including HF shelf, HF notch/peak, low-mid notch/peak and LF shelf adjustments. The settings can also be controlled via a network connection via Ethernet (RJ45), allowing for precise calibration and integration into more complex monitor systems. Built-in protections against peaks and overheating ensure reliable operation under high loads.
Connectivity includes a balanced XLR input and an unbalanced RCA input, allowing for use in both professional studio circuits and simpler setups. The enclosure is shielded, bass-reflex construction and designed for a fully horizontal orientation, making the A44H a dedicated yet extremely accurate solution for critical monitoring.
