Description
The ADAM Audio T8V Active Studio Monitor is an active two-way studio monitor designed for producers, mixing and mastering engineers who work in larger studio spaces or require significantly deeper low-frequency range and high dynamic range. It is the largest model in the T-Series and is designed to provide a stable, tight and controlled mix image, without the need for an additional subwoofer in many situations.
The monitor uses an 8-inch woofer with a polypropylene diaphragm, which provides extended bass down to 33 Hz. This allows for precise assessment of the sub-bass range, which is especially important in electronic music, hip-hop, sound design and cinema sound. The bass is tight and well-defined, without artificial emphasis, which helps make correct decisions in the mix.
The high-frequency range is reproduced by a 1.9" ribbon tweeter, which provides fast transient response and clarity up to 25 kHz. This contributes to the precise reproduction of attacks, details and spatial elements in the mix, such as vocals, cymbals and effects. The active crossover at 2.6 kHz ensures a smooth transition between the two drivers and an even frequency balance.
The amplifier section is split and fully active with a 70 W Class-D amplifier for the low frequencies and a 20 W Class-D amplifier for the high frequencies, with a total output power of 90 W. This allows for a maximum sound pressure of up to 118 dB SPL, which provides sufficient headroom to operate at higher levels without noticeable distortion. The overall THD is around 0.5%, which is suitable for critical studio monitoring.
The cabinet features a bass-reflex design, optimized for efficient low-frequency reproduction and stable operation at higher sound pressure levels. Available HF and LF shelf adjustments in the ±2 dB range allow for fine-tuning of the sound to suit room acoustics or monitor positioning. This is especially useful when working in rooms without full acoustic treatment.
Connectivity includes a balanced XLR input and an unbalanced RCA input, allowing integration into both professional studio setups and simpler configurations. The T8V is supplied as a single monitor and is designed for vertical positioning. With its size and weight, the model is suitable for a main monitor in medium to larger control rooms where powerful but controlled sound is required.
