Description
The Sony PXW-Z300 camcorder is a professional 4K broadcast-grade camcorder designed for television production, documentary projects, news reporting and corporate video. The model uses a 1/2"-type 3-chip CMOS sensor (7.6 x 4 mm), which provides an effective resolution of 8.29 MP (real 12.2 MP) and precise color reproduction thanks to the three-sensor architecture. The camera is designed entirely for video capture and supports UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) up to 59.94 fps, as well as Full HD in various progressive and interlaced modes.
The integrated lens offers a 17x optical zoom with a focal length of 5.6–95.2 mm (30.3–515 mm equivalent), an aperture of f/1.9–f/16 and a minimum focusing distance of 5 cm. Separate control rings for focus, zoom and iris are available, as well as autofocus and manual focus modes. Optical stabilization built into the lens aids in steady handheld shooting.
The camera features an electronic ND filter with a range of 2 to 7 stops, an electronic rolling shutter with speeds from 1/8000 to 64 seconds and sensitivity from -3 to 18 dB (up to 42 dB extended). The minimum illumination reaches 0.0013 lux at f/1.9, and the white balance covers 2000–15,000K.
The PXW-Z300 records in MP4 Proxy, XAVC-I, XAVC-L and MXF formats, including 4-channel audio recording. It features 2 x XLR inputs, a stereo built-in microphone and a 3.5 mm headphone output. IP streaming supports RTMP, RTMPS and SRT protocols up to 4K resolution.
Connectivity includes 12G-SDI (BNC), HDMI 2.0, Timecode, Genlock, Gigabit Ethernet (RJ45), USB-C power (20V, 5A), Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and GPS. The camera supports mobile control via the Monitor & Control app (Android/iOS).
Dual CFexpress Type A / SDXC slots provide flexible recording, and a 3.5" articulating LCD display with a resolution of 2,764,800 dots offers precise monitoring. Power is provided by Sony BP-U series batteries. Weight is 2.6 kg (body) or 2.99 kg with battery.
