Description
The Laowa 10mm T2.9 Zero-D VV Cine Lens is a professional ultra-wide-angle cine lens designed for full-frame and VistaVision cinema cameras and equipped with an ARRI LPL mount optimized for modern large-format systems. With a focal length of 10mm and a cine aperture of T2.9, this lens offers an exceptionally wide field of view combined with precise control over geometry and visual clarity of the frame.
Thanks to VistaVision with a 43.2mm diameter circle coverage, the lens works with both full frame and larger sensors without vignetting. In full frame format, the horizontal angle of view reaches approximately 130.3°, allowing for the capture of large-scale spaces, interiors and dynamic camera movements with a pronounced sense of depth and scale.
The Zero-D optical concept is designed to minimize geometric distortion, so that straight lines remain straight even at extremely wide angles. This is especially important in architectural scenes, virtual sets, and VFX productions, where any distortion can complicate post-production.
The T2.9 aperture, stop-down to T22, provides flexibility in a variety of lighting conditions. The 14-blade diaphragm contributes to smooth and even defocus, allowing artistic use of the foreground even with an ultra-wide perspective.
The optical design features 15 elements in 9 groups, optimized for high resolution and stable contrast across the frame. A minimum focusing distance of just 12 cm enables extreme close-up work, creating dramatic shots with enhanced perspective. With a magnification ratio of approximately 0.24x and a macro ratio of approximately 1:4.16, the lens enables creative compositions that combine detail and scale in a single frame.
The LAOWA 10mm T2.9 Zero-D VV Cine is a fully mechanical cine lens, with no electronic communication and no optical stabilization, which ensures predictable and repeatable behavior in professional work. The focus ring has a travel of approximately 113°, and the aperture ring has a travel of 63°, allowing for precise and controlled focus transitions.
The focus and aperture rings feature a standard 0.8 MOD gear, fully compatible with professional follow focus systems. The markings are clearly marked in both metric and imperial, making it easy for focus pullers in international teams to work with. The 77mm front thread allows the use of standard filters without bulky adapters.
Despite its extreme angle of view, the lens is relatively compact for a cinema-grade lens, with a front diameter of about 80 mm, a length of approximately 46.7 mm, and a weight of about 545 g. This makes it suitable for use on gimbals, stabilizers, drone platforms, and mobile cinema configurations, without compromising on optical quality and mechanical reliability.
