Description
The Nikon Z8 camera is a model that combines top technologies from the flagship Nikon Z9 with a more compact body, suitable for everyday use and shooting with a gimbal.
The Nikon Z8 is equipped with a full-frame multilayer BSI sensor with 45.7 effective megapixels, with extremely fast information readout and low noise levels.
The EXPEED 7 processor delivers nearly 10 times the speed of the Nikon Z7 II processor, impressive autofocus performance, burst shooting at up to 20 fps in RAW and 30 fps in JPEG, up to 60 fps at 19MP and up to 120fps at 11MP.
The buffer records up to 1,000 consecutive RAW frames in a burst and allows direct jump to the first frame of the burst in review.
The Pre-Release Capture function makes it easy to capture the important moments by recording a series of frames up to 1 second before the final shutter release.
The all-electronic shutter offers a maximum speed of 1/32000 sec, and the multi-layer design of the sensor and the lightning-fast reading of the information virtually eliminate the "jelly" effect. The removal of the mechanical shutter allows completely silent operation, and if desired, a sound of different strength can be included.
The Nikon Z8 is optimized for portrait photography with fine-tuning of brightness and color shades, skin softening of up to 3 subjects in the frame, intuitive white balance control and optimized auto balance for shooting people.
The phase-detection autofocus system inherited from the Nikon Z9 has 493 points, and AF calculations are performed at 120 fps. It works great in low light conditions (down to -9EV) for astrophotography, night shots, concerts, and more. and offers a Backlit AF mode for accurate focus in the back light. Object detection with Deep Learning and 3D Tracking AF ensures precise detection and tracking. Improved eye and face detection and tracking for handling small objects in the frame.
The Nikon Z8 records up to 8K 12-bit N-RAW (8.3K 60p/24p, 4.1K up to 120p from full sensor and 5.3K 60p with 1.5x crop) and 4K ProRES RAW. It also supports internal recording of 10-bit 4:2:2 ProRes 422 HQ and H.265 and 4:2:0 H.264. Also available are 10-bit N-Log, Flat color profile, HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma). During video recording, the Nikon Z8 signals in the viewfinder and on the display and offers a specialized format for the display with different recording parameters, as well as Focus peaking, Zebra, Waveform, fine control of light sensitivity, setting 2 different focus speeds. The camera supports 24-bit linear PCM audio recording and timecode (with an optional timecode generator).
The body of the Nikon Z8 uses carbon fiber and magnesium alloy for excellent durability, and high-quality seals protect against dust and moisture. The size is about 30% smaller than the Nikon Z9, mostly due to the removal of the built-in vertical grip (possible use of optional Nikon MB-N12).
Two memory card slots are available - one each for CFexpress Type B and SD UHS-II and multiple ports - HDMI, two USB Type C (one for power and one for data, with Ethernet connection capability), 10-pin, 3.5mm microphone input and headphone output, as well as wireless connectivity via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5 GHz).
For maximum convenience in all working conditions, it is equipped with backlit buttons, an OLED viewfinder with 3.69 million dots and a brightness of 3000 cd/m2, as well as a 3.2-inch touchscreen with 2.1 million dots and 4-axis movement.
