The compact Sony ECM-M1 Digital Shotgun Microphone is equipped with 4 capsules and offers a total of 8 operating modes for camera users with the Sony Multi Interface Shoe for accessories.
The convenient microphone controller allows quick selection between different modes to cover all possible scenarios as adequately as possible - interview, vlogging and streaming, stereo and multi-way recording.
The Sony ECM-M1's Superdirectional and Ultra-Directional microphone modes capture sound in a specific range in front of or behind the camera, while effectively eliminating other noise.
Unidirectional mode is suitable for recording multiple voices simultaneously and covers a wider perimeter in front of the camera while minimizing residual noise.
Omnidirectional mode records sound simultaneously from all directions.
With compatible Sony cameras, the ECM-M1 can operate in 4-channel Omnidirectional mode, where two channels record ambient sounds and two are directed in the selected direction.
When connected via the Multi Interface shoe of a compatible camera with a built-in digital audio interface, the Sony ECM-M1 transfers the signal directly to the camera in digital format to avoid quality loss. The ECM-M1 requires no additional power as it uses the camera's battery.
