Combining an advanced feature set with compact dimensions, this model offers high-resolution image quality thanks to a 24.24MP APS-C CMOS sensor and PRIME MII image processor.
The 3.0" LCD display with 1.03m dots allows working from various angles and features a night vision function that greatly reduces eye strain when shooting in dark locations, such as night landscape or astrophotography modes. The Pentax KF is compatible with the optional O-GPS2 GPS module for geotagging and the AstroTracer function.
24.24MP APS-C CMOS sensor and PRIME MII processor
Equipped with a 24.24MP APS-C CMOS sensor and PRIME MII image processor, the Pentax KF produces high-resolution images, a sensitivity range of ISO 100-102400 and the ability to record Full HD 1080p video. Continuous shooting is also possible at 6 frames per second for up to 40 consecutive JPEG, 10 RAW frames or 8 RAW+JPEG exposures.
LCD display
The 3.0-inch 1.03 million-dot LCD display can be positioned at any desired angle, making it easy to compose images in a wide variety of situations. Its construction effectively reduces light reflection and scattering for improved visibility during outdoor shooting.
The brightness can be adjusted according to the lighting of the field. The LCD display also features a night vision function that significantly reduces eye strain when shooting dark locations such as nightscapes and astrophotography when used in conjunction with the optional O-GPS2 GPS module.
Optical viewfinder
Within its compact body, the PENTAX KF incorporates a glass prism viewfinder featuring the same optics and coatings as those used in higher-end models. With its approximately 100% field of view and 0.95x magnification, the viewfinder provides a large, clear view over the subject.
Image stabilization
The Pentax KF is equipped with a Shake Reduction (SR) mechanism that effectively compensates for camera shake by up to 4.5 stops for clear blur-free photos, even in challenging shooting conditions such as when using a telephoto lens, shooting low-light scenes, at sunset sun or when shooting handheld with slower shutter speeds.
SAFOX X autofocus system
The high-precision SAFOX X AF sensor module ensures fast response and reliable autofocus operation. With its 11 individual phase detection points, including 9 cross-type sensors in the middle, this AF unit provides precise focus on the subject at a minimum brightness level of -3 EV and outstanding performance in tracking moving subjects.
Video
Full HD 1920 x 1080 video recording is supported in multiple frame rates 60i, 50i, 30p, 25p and 24p, in H.264 format. HD 1280 x 720 video is also possible in 60p and 50p. Audio can be recorded together using the built-in stereo microphone, and a 3.5mm jack is also available for use with an external microphone.
Construction resistant to atmospheric influences
Reliable performance in difficult conditions such as rain, fog or snow, dust and sub-zero temperatures, the weatherproof body is ideal for outdoor photography. In typical Pentax design, the camera features a durable construction with 100 seals throughout the body and exceptional resistance to cold and weather.
Wireless functionality
Providing multiple wireless functions for smartphones and tablets with the dedicated Image Sync app you can remotely check your Live View images, adjust camera settings such as aperture, shutter speed and ISO sensitivity. It is also possible to download images on a mobile device, then upload them to social networks.
