Description
The Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III is a compact professional camera with interchangeable optics and a micro 4/3 sensor. It features a 7.5-step image stabilization system with shutter speed, a new image processor (TruePic IX), high-precision and fast autofocus, as well as various unique shooting features.
With its compact and lightweight design and in combination with the M. Zuiko Digital lenses, the Olympus E-M1 Mark III is about twice as compact in size and lower in weight than other systems, without imposing any performance restrictions a variety of professional tasks.
Compact and lightweight body made of sturdy magnesium-aluminum alloy
As an extremely compact E-M1 Mark III camera with every M.Zuiko lens, it maintains superb mobility while delivering the high image quality and high performance expected by demanding photographers. The biggest advantage of Olympus is its compact and lightweight camera + lens system. It's really about half the size and weight of other cameras with interchangeable optics.
The world's best stabilization system with up to 7.5 EV steps compensation
When you synchronize the 5-axis body stabilization with that of the lens, with the E-M1 Mark III you can achieve an exceptional 7.5 steps (according to Olympus data at 02.2020) of shutter speed compensation. Such levels of compensation allow shooting in dark or very long-focal lenses without a tripod, which opens up completely new possibilities for photographers and videographers. If you rely solely on body-built stabilization, you will have up to 7.0 steps with every Micro Four Thirds lens (according to M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm F2.8 PRO. F = 40mm (35mm equivalent f = 80mm) , according to CIPA standard with two axis correction).
Reliable moisture protection plus protection against dust and cold
The robust magnesium aluminum body of the OM-D E-M1 Mark III provides the well-known dust / moisture and cold protection of the Olympus, thanks to which the camera can be used in the most unfavorable conditions.
20.4 MP Live MOS Sensor with reputable SSWF Technology and Special Pollution Cover
Olympus is known for its Super Sonic Wave Filter (SSWF) technology, in which vibrations eject all dust from the sensor. The coverage is the same as that of the OM-D E-M1X, which ensures that dust does not get into the sensor, reducing spots to 1/10 of that of conventional cameras.
For those who hold high resolution, the feature is to capture 50-megapixel handheld images. When using a tripod, you can reach even higher resolution of about 80 megapixels in RAW and JPEG.
121 fully crossed dots with phase AF and multiple AF modes and settings
The OM-D E-M1 Mark III autofocus system has 121 fully crossed phase AF points so you can focus on all areas of the screen. 75% vertical and 80% horizontal coverage is provided so you can track fast-moving objects with high precision. Unlike DSLR cameras, there is no degradation of AF accuracy if you use a fast lens. The E-M1 Mark III is precisely focused even with high-power lenses, with AF / AE tracking possible at 18 frames per second at full resolution of 20.4 megapixels, even with f / 1.2 lenses. The subject can also be tracked in the viewfinder, which makes tracking even more accurate.
Improved ergonomics with multi selector for quick AF zone change
The multi-selector announced on the E-M1X will allow you to quickly switch AF from one place to another while looking through the viewfinder. You can also use it in burst shooting, which means that even animals with unpredictable movements will be in focus - especially useful for wildlife photographers.
OM-D Movie for video
4K and C4K handheld video recording, OM-Log400, various stabilization levels, 120 fps with FullHD fast burst, High Res sound
Live ND for slow shutter speed effect without optical filter
Live ND is a feature already known by the Olympus OM-D E-M1X flagship model. The effect level is selectable from ND2 (1 step) to ND32 (5 steps) and it can be checked in the viewfinder before shooting. This feature eliminates the need to replace the optical ND filters needed for different scenes or lenses.
Starry Sky AF for astrophotography. Improvements in face and eye recognition
The new astrophotography feature - Starry Sky AF offers completely new features. Until recently, astrophotography relied on manual focus only, while the E-M1 III provided a new algorithm for precise focus even on the smallest stars in the sky. One of the two modes in Starry Sky AF is Speed Priority (default), which prioritizes focus speed and overall AF process in no time. Thanks to its powerful stabilization, this feature makes astrophotography possible with a wide-angle lens without a tripod. The second Accuracy Priority mode uses fine-tuning and is effective when using telephoto lenses.
Advanced Face Priority / Eye Priority AF automatically detects and focuses on people's faces and eyes. With the new TruePic IX processor, this algorithm has been improved to help smaller people or lateral head positions. You can now also focus through the display while shooting video, and detection can be turned on or off with just one button. These features will make the E-M1 Mark III a favorite camera for many vloggers.
Pro Capture for fast-paced moments
In Pro Capture mode, the camera starts recording images even when the shutter button is halfway pressed, and up to 35 RAW images are recorded in full resolution in the memory buffer.
USB charging on the go
The Olympus BLH-1 lithium-ion battery can be charged in less than 2 hours when charged inside the camera if you are using external power via USB 3. The E-M1 Mark III is USB PD (USB Power Delivery) compliant and may use an external power bank to provide longer shooting, useful in astrophotography or in very cold places.
