The Blackmagic Mini Videohub 8x4 12G is a professional SDI video router designed for broadcast studios, streaming centers, post-production environments, and mobile production systems. The device allows for fast and reliable routing of video signals between multiple sources and end devices, without the need for manual cable routing or additional distribution solutions.
The model features eight independent 12G-SDI inputs and four 12G-SDI outputs, with each output freely connectable to any of the available inputs. This allows for simultaneous control of multiple cameras, recorders, video switchers, graphics stations, playout servers and monitoring systems within a centralized infrastructure.
Support for SD, HD, 2K and 4K workflows
Thanks to 12G-SDI technology, the device supports a wide range of video standards and frame rates. These include DCI 4K and UHD 4K up to 60 frames per second, DCI 2K, Full HD 1080p up to 60 fps, 1080i, 720p, as well as standard TV formats 576i and 480i. This allows for seamless operation with both modern 4K productions and existing HD and SD systems.
Support for professional SMPTE standards ensures compatibility with a wide range of studio equipment and facilitates integration into complex production environments.
Additional loop outputs for monitoring and distribution
In addition to the four main SDI outputs, the Mini Videohub 8x4 12G also offers six 12G-SDI loop outputs. These allow the signal from the sources to be fed directly to additional monitors, recorders, multiview systems or backup devices without the need for external splitters. This reduces system complexity and makes it easier to build professional work configurations.
Built-in audio transmission and synchronization
The device supports SDI embedded audio, which allows audio and video signals to be carried together over a single connection. This reduces the number of cables required and simplifies system management.
For professional broadcast environments, Blackburst, Reference and Tri-Level Sync signal inputs and outputs are available. They enable precise synchronization between all devices in the system and ensure stable operation in multi-camera productions and live broadcasts.
Control from anywhere in the system
The Blackmagic Mini Videohub 8x4 12G can be controlled directly from the front panel using physical buttons or remotely via Ethernet, USB-C connection and dedicated software. Built-in Wi-Fi connectivity provides additional flexibility in configuring and monitoring the device.
This combination of local and remote control makes the model suitable for both stationary studios and mobile productions, where quick access to settings is key.
Compact design for professional use
